Leo Nomellini

All-American in football at the University of Minnesota. First player selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the team’s original NFL draft. Named top defensive tackle of NFL’s first 50 years. Elected to Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1969. Named to Football Foundation Hall of Fame in 1977. While with 49ers, only player ever to make All-Pro both on offense and defense since the two-platoon system was adopted. Was offensive All-Pro in 1951 and 1952, then defensive All-Pro in 1953, 1954, 1957 and 1959. Selected for 10 Pro Bowls. Enshrined in the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame in 1985.
