Lee Evans

Attended Overfelt High School in San Jose. At San Jose State he was a member of the school’s NCAA 1969 Championship Team. Set a record for 43.86 for 400 meters in 1968 Olympic Games, Mexico City which stood for 20 years. Won another gold medal for anchoring the USA 4x400 relay team to a world record. Won a total of five National AAU 400 meter championships. Four times selected world 400 Meter Champion. Voted the greatest 400-meter sprinter in the world for the 1960’s. Enshrined in the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame in 1995.
