Stanford University, 1935-38

Native San Franciscan and Galileo High School graduate revolutionized game of basketball with his one-handed shot. Recognized as greatest player in West Coast history. Led Stanford to three consecutive Pacific Coast Championships from 1936 to 1938. Three-time All-American as a collegian. Scored 1,596 points in four-year college career. National Player of the Year in 1937 with 17.1 points per game and College Basketball Player of the Year in 1937-38. Set Stanford single game scoring record with 50 points against Duquesne. Named to Naismith Memorial Basketball Foundation Hall of Fame and Helms Foundation Hall of Fame. Enshrined in Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame in 1980.
