Eddie Joost

A native of San Francisco, he starred in baseball at Mission High School, signed by the Mission Reds of the Pacific Coast League in 1933 and sold to the Cincinnati Redlegs in 1936. Played in major leagues 17 seasons. Held Major League record of 225 errorless chances. Was AL leadoff man in All-Star games of 1949 and 1952. Managed Philadelphia Athletics in 1954 and San Francisco Seals in 1956. Enshrined in the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame in 1995.
