Dick Bartell

 

Raised in Alameda. Completed 18 major league seasons with Pirates, Phillies, Giants, Cubs and Tigers. Starting shortstop for NL in first All-Star Game in 1933 while with Phillies. Played in three World Series-1936-37 with Giants, 1940 with Detroit. Lifetime BA .284. Enshrined in the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame in 1992.
