Curt Flood

Starred as a youngster on the baseball fields of Oakland, Alameda and San Francisco. Curt was originally signed by Cincinnati and treaded to the St. Louis Cardinals in 1957. He earned seven Gold Glove Awards from 1963-1969. Batted .300 or better in six seasons with a high of .335 in 1967; .296 in 1962l .285 in 1969. Held the Major League record in fielding percentage 1,000, 1966. Held the Major League record for consecutive errorless games (226). Flood was instrumental in three Redbird National League pennants and two World Series triumphs. After 15 years, he retired in 1971, with a lifetime batting average of .293. Enshrined in the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame in 1995.
