Thomas Martz was appointed President & CEO of BASHOF on October 1, 2005.

Tom has a long history of involvement with BASHOF, business and sports in the Bay Area. On the business side, he was a Pacific Manager for the National Geographic, the West Coast Manager for Fortune Magazine, and most recently, the President of the Northern California Broadcasters Association. His sports background includes affiliations with the SF 49ers, the Virginia Slims Tennis Tour, The US Open and US Amateur Golf Tournament at the Olympic Club, as well as his current position as Chairman of the Charles Schwab Cup, an event that concludes the year on the Champions Tour, and is played in Sonoma in October.

Commenting on his appointment, Tom said "I am extremely honored to be selected to head this wonderful organization". Through the years, under the leadership of Lou Spadia and others, BASHOF has enshrined over 100 great Bay Area athletes in our Hall of Fame, as well as raised over $2 million for youth sports.

Sports offer young people so many benefits in their growing years, and yet tight budgets have cut deeply into available dollars. I hope to follow the lead of those people in the past who have grown BASHOF into the outstanding organization it is today...and to do our utmost to make sure the dollars for young people's sports activities are there."
