At Cal, starting in 1982, she dominated NCAA Championships by winning six titles. A member of three U.S. Olympic Teams, 1980, 84 and 88, she established Olympic records in the 1984 Los Angeles Games in the 100 and 200 meter butterfly and earned a third gold medal on the medley relay team. She set seven world records during her career, two of which would stand for 19 years. Selected to the International Swimming Hall of Fame in 1993.
