Gene Washington, a former San Francisco 49ers wide receiver, was a three-time All-Pro and four-time Pro Bowl player in the NFL. At Stanford University, he set multiple records for receptions and was a two-time First Team All Pac-8. He previously served as a professional sportscaster and as assistant athletic director for Stanford University.
George Archer, born in San Francisco and raised in San Mateo, won 12 events on the PGA Tour, including one major championship, the 1969 Masters Tournament. The George Archer Memorial Foundation for Literacy was established after George’s passing and aims to eliminate illiteracy in children.
