The 31st Annual Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame Enshrinement Banquet will honor five remarkable Bay Area sports legends. Brian Boitano, a four-time US National Champion, two-time World Champion, and 1988 Olympic Gold Medalist, began his skating career in Sunnyvale and currently resides in San Francisco; Bert “Campy” Campaneris, a former Oakland A’s shortstop and key member of the championship teams from 1971 to 1975, including three World Series, holds the A’s franchise records for games played, hits, and at-bats; Al Davis, who is being inducted under the recent “Distinguished Achievement” category (which was established to honor individuals who have made an extraordinary impact on sports in the Bay Area but have not been on-field performers) has led the Raiders to 13 Division Championships, three Super Bowls, and 15 playoff appearances; Stephen Negoesco, one of the greatest soccer coaches in NCAA History, coached the USF Dons for 19 years, amassing 544 victories, 22 Conference Championships, and four NCAA Titles; R. C. “Alley Oop” Owens thrilled the San Francisco 49er fans for five years with his “Alley Oop” receptions from quarterback Y. A. Tittle.

The Enshrinement Banquet will be held March 22, 2010, at the Westin St. Francis in San Francisco. The banquet begins with a pre-event cocktail party, followed by dinner and induction of the Enshrinees in the Ballroom. Always an exciting event with many Bay Area sports celebrities in attendance, the evening is sure to draw a sell-out crowd.
